Why Mentoring Matters at Quality Care Group

Quality Care Group

As we look ahead to International Mentoring Day 2026 tomorrow, I am reflecting on the powerful role mentoring has played in my own career and in the development of so many talented people I have had the privilege to work alongside.

Mentoring is not simply about sharing experience, it is about building trust, empowering confidence and creating a culture where learning continues.

At Quality Care Group, mentoring sits at the heart of how we grow as professionals and as people. This commitment is reflected in the way we nurture potential, encourage curiosity and create an environment where individuals feel supported to thrive.

That culture has been recognised beyond our organisation. Being reigning winners of Best Workplace in Insurance 2025, and now finalists again for the 2026 awards later this year, is a powerful endorsement of the environment we have built together. Mentoring plays a central role in that success by helping people feel valued, supported and confident to grow.

Mentoring as a core value

From our mental health first aiders to our new starter programmes, guidance and support are embedded at every level of the organisation. Mentoring allows experience to be shared across teams while welcoming fresh perspectives from those earlier in their journey. It is a relationship that strengthens both mentor and mentee.

Supporting neurodiversity and inclusion

Our Neurodiversity Team plays an important role in ensuring mentoring is inclusive and accessible for everyone. By working closely with colleagues across the business, the team helps create safe spaces for open dialogue, shared understanding and practical support. Mentoring supports this by enabling individuals to learn from one another’s experiences and by removing barriers that can otherwise limit potential.

The ripple effect of mentoring

The impact of mentoring reaches far beyond the individual. By empowering our people, we strengthen the service delivered to clients and contribute positively to the wider care sector. Confidence built through mentoring flows into everyday interactions, creating benefits that extend well beyond the original conversation.

Looking ahead

As International Mentoring Day 2026 approaches, I encourage everyone to reflect on the mentors who have shaped their journey. I also encourage each of us to consider how we might support someone else, whether through guidance, shared insight or simply taking time to listen.

At Quality Care Group, we are proud to champion mentoring as a cornerstone of our culture. Together we will continue to grow, learn and succeed, because when we lift others up, the impact reaches further than any one of us.
