The UK energy market is undergoing a significant transformation. Starting in October this year, the Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) scheme will roll out across the country, changing how electricity is monitored and billed for both domestic and commercial users, including care homes.
Under MHHS, all electricity meters will be read every 30 minutes, offering a more accurate picture of energy consumption and a more dynamic pricing model. For many care homes, this will require a transition to smart meters, for some, the installation of entirely new meters.
