Reinstatement Cost Assessments for Care Home Buildings

Ensure Your Care Home Is Insured for the Right Amount

A reinstatement cost assessment provides an accurate calculation of what it would cost to completely rebuild your care home following a total loss.
Many care providers assume their buildings insurance reflects the true cost of rebuilding their property. However, construction costs, specialist care facilities, regulatory requirements and market changes can mean a building is insured for significantly more or less than it should be.

At Quality Care Group, we help care providers obtain professional reinstatement cost assessments so they can arrange the appropriate level of buildings insurance and reduce the risk of underinsurance.

What Is a Reinstatement Cost Assessment?

How QCG Helped a Care Home Recover a £76,000 Billing Error

Bernard Kennedy, Director of William Wilberforce Care Home, spent 16 months trying to find out why his electricity bills had nearly doubled overnight, with his supplier insisting nothing was wrong. He turned to QCG in late 2020.

Our energy analyst traced the cause to a data error between the supplier, meter operator, and distribution network. After reviewing hundreds of invoices, the analyst pinpointed the exact moment it began, 18th February 2018, when the supplier had mistakenly started billing the care home for a completely different business's usage.

Bernard received a full refund of £76,000, plus additional compensation.

“Quality Care Group gave us the confidence to challenge bills that did not feel right. Their energy analyst Peter Bryant handled every part of our case with calm expertise. We faced disputed charges of more than £130,000 and I was deeply worried about the future of the home. Peter managed the providers, gathered the evidence, pushed back on incorrect information and secured credits that protected our financial stability. The final charge came to only nine hundred pounds which gave us real relief at a time when high bills were putting real pressure on care homes across the sector. We now feel secure and supported and I would encourage any provider to ask Quality Care Group to check their energy bills because the savings can be life changing.”

“We found the energy advice provided to us by the Business Solutions Team at Quality Care Group to be informative, helpful and supportive. They are always eager to provide up to date advice in layman's terms, allowing us to make informed decisions, leading to us making significant savings on our energy bills.”

“5 Stars! I found this company exceptionally prompt & professional to deal with. They made everything easy & saved us a potential £7k per annum! See what they can do for you.”

Why Act Now

What Happens If You Don't Review Your Care Home's Energy Contract?

Contracts that aren't actively managed often roll onto deemed or out-of-contract rates at renewal, which can cost significantly more than a negotiated tariff. The longer a contract runs unreviewed, the harder it becomes to identify billing errors or reclaim overpayments retrospectively. A free review takes a few minutes to arrange and carries no obligation, so there's little reason to wait until renewal to find out where you stand.
