Job Purpose
The Account Handler plays a key role in supporting the New Business team by providing technical and administrative expertise throughout the client journey. Working closely with the Account Executive, you will prepare quotations, liaise with insurers, maintain accurate records and help ensure every client receives an exceptional standard of service.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast paced environment, has excellent organisational skills and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
Principal Accountabilities
- Maintain accurate client records and policy information within our broking system.
- Obtain quotations from a panel of leading insurers and underwriters.
- Prepare professional quotation comparisons, insurance summaries and supporting documentation.
- Support the Account Executive throughout the new business process, from initial enquiry through to policy inception.
- Liaise with insurers and underwriters to negotiate terms and obtain competitive quotations.
- Raise invoices and support credit control activities where required.
- Respond to client enquiries promptly and professionally by telephone and email.
- Ensure all client documentation is accurate, compliant and issued within agreed service standards.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with FCA regulations, Consumer Duty requirements and internal compliance procedures.
- Attend team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Complete ongoing training and development, including mandatory compliance and CPD requirements.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties required to support the New Business team.
Knowledge & Experience
- Technical knowledge of commercial insurance is preferable.
- Insurance broking experience is preferable.
Skills
- Previous experience in insurance administration, account handling or broking support.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional and positive approach.
- Capable of working on your own initiative and as part of a collaborative team.
- Competent using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
