Each September, the global community comes together to mark World Alzheimer’s Month, raising awareness and challenging the stigma surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and all forms of dementia. At Quality Care Group, we’re proud to stand alongside care providers across the UK in recognising the vital role they play in supporting individuals living with dementia, their families, and communities.
In 2025, the theme set by Alzheimer’s Disease International “Never Too Early, Never Too Late” underscores the importance of early intervention, diagnosis, and sustained support for both those affected and the care professionals who make an extraordinary difference every day.
There are currently around 900,000 people living with dementia in the UK, a number projected to rise to 1.6 million by 2040. The majority of those affected are supported by the social care system, particularly residential, nursing, and home care providers. As demand continues to grow, care businesses must be equipped not only with specialist training and compassionate staff but also with robust operational support to ensure sustainable, high-quality care.
Caring for residents with dementia requires a heightened focus on risk. Challenges such as wandering, falls, medication management, and communication difficulties must all be addressed within an effective, proactive risk framework. Our Risk & Claims team works directly with care providers to review their procedures, implement safeguards, and respond quickly when incidents occur, ensuring compliance, safety, and peace of mind.
“Dementia care comes with unique responsibilities. We support our clients by helping them with in-depth risk assessments and offering practical advice to minimise incident, from layout design and staffing levels to safeguarding protocols and training.”
World Alzheimer’s Month is more than just a campaign. It’s a reminder that dementia touches every part of our society and that the care sector is at the heart of the response.
Whether you're a care provider, family member, or supporter, we invite you to join us in recognising the dedication of those who care for people living with dementia – and to keep pushing for greater understanding, better resources, and meaningful change.
